The Vermilion Cliffs National monument is so rich in colors it is almost unbelievable. The red iron oxides and blue mangenese color a setting made of ancient deposited silt and desert dunes that became cemented by infiltrated carbonates before being eroded for millions of years by weather and wind. The wide cloud-spotted skies and the lovely southern light make it an enchanted place.
